Stuck

For the first time since this pandemic started last March, as of yesterday, January 31st, we are now officially "stuck" in France.

Up until now, as a family holding dual citizenship, we were allowed to travel back and forth between the US and France, as long as we followed the relevant Covid testing rules and had paperwork proving nationality and marriage.

We didn't have any plans to actually travel to the US anytime soon, but now we're no longer part of the exception list.

In lieu of, or in the hopes of postponing a bit longer, a new lockdown, the government tightened travel rules. Now an "imperative reason" is required for overseas travel, and the list is fairly short. Further, if we did leave, there would be no guarantee we'd be allowed back in, as we'd have to also prove our "imperative reason" for returning.

We are still under a 6 pm curfew nationwide. Schools are still open, in-person for preschool, elementary, and middle school, and one week in-person, one week distance learning for high school.

Ready for the pandemic to end already...
