Memorial Day

We attended the Memorial Day ceremony at the Aisne-Marne American cemetery, and then visited a local country market.

New swimming strategy: breaking bones

Noah came in first in 800-meter freestyle today, and (oh crap) beat his brother's 50-meter freestyle record, coming in fourth in that race and in 50-meter breaststroke, one hundredth of a second behind third place.

Honestly, I think we might have him break a bone every year, it seems to help him swim better.

Open House at the Compiègne Air Club

Noah ended up not going for a flight since he'd already done three through his BIA (brevet d'initiation à l'aéronautique) certificate program. He was interested in a glider flight but let's just say they weren't at the same inexpensive price as plane flights.

Summertime

What summertime looks like around here

Since Grandad Lundy left this world four years ago, in 2018, Grandma has suffered. This was one of our last good visits with her, that same year. But her suffering is over now, and she's reunited with my grandad, and with our Lord. We'll miss her.

Happy Birthday to Frédéric!

"Une fois n'est pas coutume," as we say in French. Frédéric got his favorite strawberry cream cake for his birthday this year.

Benjamin's swim meet at Chauny

Benjamin had a good meet at Chauny today. He improved his 100-meter backstroke time by almost half a second, and came in first in 100-meter backstroke and second in 200-meter medley.

Look at the ceiling; perfect for backstroke. Or not.

First meet back

It's almost like breaking his arm and taking a break was good for him...

Noah had a great first swim meet back in St Quentin after recovering from his broken arm. He came in 1st in 100-meter backstroke, and improved his times in 100-meter breaststroke, 50-meter butterfly, and 100-meter freestyle.
